Stepping Out - The show about a Dance Class
Stepping Out hits the West End
Britain’s favourite girl next door Amanda Holden is currently starring in Stepping Out by Richard Harris.
The play concerns eight individuals from disparate backgrounds and with differing motivations who attend the same weekly tap dancing class in a dingy North London church hall. Despite the students at first treating the classes as social occasions, and showing little co-ordination, they later develop a level of skill and cohesiveness. The dance routines are the background for the focus of the play, the relationship and interaction of different people.
Geoffrey is the only male in the all female cast who struggles with his co ordination and his social skills making for some great comic moments.
Stepping Out was also produced as a film in 199, it was directed by Lewis Gilbert, and starred Liza Minnelli, with Julie Walters who was nominated for a BAFTA Award.
The musical play is currently enjoying a run at The Vaudeville Theatre on the Strand.
Tickets can be found for some performances at TKTS where tickets are at a reduced rate for some performances.
