 This attractive town benefits from exceptional transport links, including five mainline train stations (London zone 4 – only 15 minutes from central London), the Tramlink, numerous bus routes and ample, affordable parking.

KSA Beckenham offers fantastic performance opportunities throughout the course, culminating in our end-of-year West End shows, attended by industry professionals. This provides students with the fantastic opportunity of showcasing the skills and applied techniques gained throughout their KSA training, in the cultural heart of theatreland.

 Our acting students perform an industry showcase and a full-length play and, for our musical theatre students, the West End show also provides the unique opportunity of appearing in an original new musical. Our method of showcasing has received great response and has proved highly successful in helping our students gain representation and work in the industry.

Adult acting BeckhamAll our One Year Courses have a Second Year & BA (Hons) option. This enables our students to continue to train, pushing themselves to greater levels of achievement, whilst working towards a degree-level qualification.

Upon satisfactory completion of the Second Year, students are awarded either the KSA Higher Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre, or the KSA Higher Diploma in Professional Acting. This recognises a student’s commitment to further industry-specific training and that they are a fully-trained, experienced individual, confident in a range of professional performance situations.

In addition to the KSA Higher Diploma, the qualification for which students train throughout the Second Year is the Licentiate Trinity College London (LTCL) Performance Diploma in either Musical Theatre, or Speech & Drama. This diploma is accredited by Trinity Guildhall, is awarded QCF credits and is comparable to other qualifications available at Level 6 in the National Qualifications Framework. It is recognised as being equivalent to a Degree Level Course.

Students who successfully complete the Second Year also have the opportunity to convert their diploma qualifications into a full BA (Hons) degree in Professional Practice at Middlesex University.

One Year Acting Diploma Course Beckenham

Mon-Fri at Full-Time

KSA understands that a three-year course may not be necessary for all students and we firmly believe that the demanding yet fulfilling nature of our One Year Acting Course, our highly skilled faculty of tutors, and the level of commitment and professionalism we instil in all our students gives them the best possible opportunity to enter the industry after one year.

All tutors are current, working professionals.

The course provides many opportunities for public performances
All KSA students perform a student showcase and a full production in a West End theatre.

Course Duration: three terms of 12 weeks

Student Finance is not available for this course, but funding via PCDL is available

The course leads to a Level 4 accredited qualification

Second year (Level 6) and BA (hons) options are available
Entry to the course is by free open audition or paid-for individual audition

Course Content

Terms one and two focus jointly on studying vital acting techniques, with each student gaining an in- depth knowledge of a vast array of theatre and media styles such as:

role play, theatre in education, historical naturalism, storytelling, physical theatre, verse, single and multi-camera technique, studio and microphone techniques.

Students have many opportunities to put these learned techniques into practice during their project sessions. Term three concentrates on performance. Work covered includes:

Acting:
acting for stage, acting for camera, acting for radio, improvisation, classical to contemporary theatre, cold reading.

Voice Studies:
vocal and breathing technique, articulation, diction and projection, resonance, clarity and audibility, choral speaking, metrical rhythms, speaking verse and prose.

Movement Studies:
physicality, physical theatre, body conditioning, choreographed routines historical dance, animal studies, clowning and musical staging.

Additional Work:
stagecraft, audition technique, approach to text and characterisation, professional advice, CV, headshots, tax, marketing, networking, masterclasses and theatre trips.
